SCANNER REPLACEMENT...
First, we replace your existing scanners with brand new high-speed duplex Banctec S-Series scanners. These scanners will run between 50 and 225 pages per minute (that's 100 to 450 duplex images per minute) depending on the model you select. With the Banctec scanners you can now run batches that contain different size pages. No more pasting up or photocopying prescription forms (you simple affix one barcode on the back of the prescription form for each Rx on that form, up to 24 barcodes per page). The Banctec scanners can also image security prescriptions that normally show up as an unreadable smudge on your current system. You can simply paste a barcode on a patient letter to create an order form and a document separator (no more extra document separator pages required). Simply place your mixed-size document batch in a page 'Jogger' and you're ready to go.
You'll be able to cut preparation resource requirements by up to 50%, while increasing your scanning throughput and image quality. (Did we also mention that all your scanned images will look better on the Order Entry Viewer?)
IMPROVED SCANNING SOFTWARE...
Next,
we replace your existing scanning software with Banctec SpeedFIRST, and
Banctec Image Workstation (also called 'IW'). SpeedFIRST allows you to run
the Banctec scanners at full speed and allows you to take full advantage
of the scanners' advanced features. Image Workstation replaces your
existing 'Index' quality assurance step, and adds 100% reliability to
barcode recognition (no more duplicate or missing barcodes).

IMPROVED RELEASE SOFTWARE...
Finally, Carrigan has custom programmed a new 'Release' application that is 100% compatible with your System release file specification. However, our 'Release' application provides many features that your current release application lacks, such as:
User Access Levels
The Carrigan Release Application contains security access levels for administrator and non-administrator. Non-Administrator access allows a user to start and stop the Automatic Release Mode, view files in a read-only mode, and exit the application. Administrator Access allows a user to:
• Edit User Information
• Edit Release Setup Information
• View the Release Application Log
• Start/Stop Auto Release
• Load files for manual release
• Release selected parts of a batch
• Exclude selected parts of a batch
• Edit or delete an index file
File Integrity Checking
This is where the Carrigan solution offers a vast improvement over your existing application. The Release Application performs many new file integrity checks during processing. Checks for::
• Duplicate refill barcodes
• Misplaced Rx barcodes
• Invalid barcode values
• Bad barcode definitions
• Incorrect number of fields
• Not having Order Form
• Duplicate file names
• Empty or invalid files.
AN OVERALL IMPROVEMENT...
The improved recognition and verification capabilities at 'Scan', 'IW' and 'Release' help to eliminate bad orders from entering the Order Entry System. It's much more efficient to catch 'problem' orders at the IW or Release steps than it is to back out a bad order once it has gone through Order Entry, Fulfillment or beyond. Our existing clients have seen a dramatic 90% drop in bad orders being released into the system with their new Carrigan imaging sub-system.
